THE Update and everything about Imperius

Post by Syka »

Hello dear player!

Why is it taking so long?

First of all, let me assure you, Imperius is progressing well, albeit with some delay. It's simply taking a bit longer than anticipated.

Now, addressing the out-of-character aspect, I understand that updates have been slower than usual, and I owe everyone interested an explanation (though I won't delve into specifics due to personal matters). Each member of the staff and development team at Imperius has been dealing with various issues, ranging from work commitments to health concerns, and general life challenges. Unfortunately, these issues have coincided, causing a collective slowdown. Nonetheless, we're persevering as best we can. Ultimately, we're only human, grappling with human problems.

Setting aside those matters, let's focus on the game, which I know is what interests us all.

What is still missing that is preventing our opening?

Injury System
There has been a significant delay in implementing this system, but rest assured, it's underway. We've decided to add the "doctor skill" later on, but it's imperative to have the basic injury system in place before the opening to avoid potential issues.

Permadeath
This system is crucial and forms the cornerstone of our hunting/PvE dynamics (a risk vs. reward scenario). While the underlying calculations are complete, we need to integrate it into the mobs.

Randomized Loot
Given our new items and item tiers, we've had to develop a new randomizer. It's still a work in progress, but it's essential for players to have access to rewarding loot.

Things that are incomplete but will be addressed as you play

Crafting
We're eager to expand our crafting options! Most skills are in good shape, though some, like alchemy, require further attention. We aim to make all crafting skills useful, implementing a BOD (bulk order deed) type system to facilitate solo play when desired.

Gathering
There are plans to introduce special resources, obtainable from [redacted], to enhance crafting possibilities.

Skills
Our goal is to make all skills (those we don't discard) significant in-game, similar to what we've achieved with Item Identification. This will take time, but we're open to ideas for improving less utilized skills and fostering diverse builds.

Suggestions, Fixes, and Improvements
We acknowledge the numerous suggestions we've received, and contrary to appearances, we consider them all. For those we haven't addressed, it's either because we haven't had the opportunity to do so yet or because we're still deliberating on their implementation. We're committed to open discussions and public decisions on proposed changes.

What will Imperius be as a game?

Roleplay
For those familiar with our previous iteration, RP remains our primary focus. Led by Nok and our dedicated staff, expect immersive storytelling and dynamic events. Whether it's scheduled gatherings or spontaneous occurrences, anticipate the unexpected and remember, someone's always watching. Your actions shape the world.

Players shape the shard
In Imperius, you're not just a character; you're the protagonist of this tale. We're not crafting a static narrative; we want to see players fearlessly engage, altering the course of events, even disrupting GM plans. Embrace unpredictability!

Handholding and Consequences
In Imperius, we won't hold your hand or dictate how you should play. Embrace the freedom to embody your character authentically. However, be mindful that actions have consequences in our world.
As the saying goes, "play stupid games, win stupid prizes." The world of Imperius is unforgiving. If you aspire to be a legend, be prepared to face the repercussions of your choices.

PvE / Loot
PvE is a core aspect, carefully balanced to discourage repetitive farming. From artifacts to rare resources, exploration is key. Picture this: a tough minion with a 1% chance of dropping a top-level "magical" item. Most may overlook it, but true explorers will catalog, share information about spawns & drops, and map the world's treasures. It would take anyone months to find all spawns and endless months to know all drops as it is, and we're continually expanding loot possibilities.

Exploration
Discover hidden locales beyond the main island, with ships ready to explore new horizons. Expect challenges beyond mere combat; our dungeons offer diverse trials for intrepid adventurers (personally crafted by yours truly hihihi).

Crafting
Crafting reigns supreme for gear. Anything superior to crafted items will be exceedingly rare. Value your crafters; they're the backbone of equipment progression. Expect continual additions to crafting options as we evolve.

So, hang tight, adventurer. Imperius is coming, and when it does, it's gonna be legendary.
